This planet was evolving and thriving while many of the ancient Stars systems were dying. This is the time frame when Madagascar and India were part of ancient Gonwanda, the Southern part of a large land mass that was inhabited by the Star people of early Earth. This was a warm, beautiful time in Earth’s history spanning 80 million years and existed prior to the large Meteor strike that caused a mass extinction of many life forms on this planet, including the Dinosaurs. The Beautiful Indigo Gabbro formed approximately 140 million years ago as Madagascar moved over the Marion Hotspot during the Cretaceous period the same time frame that flowering plants like the Magnolia and Water Lily came into existence. ![]() What I have learned geologically through my research and Spiritually through meditation are written below… Imagine my surprise when I discovered hardly anyone knew anything about it and almost nothing has been written about the Indigo form of Gabbro. I do know that when I saw and held a sample of this stone sent to me by my Madagascar Supplier I HAD to have it! The feeling was overwhelming that I need to get this in right away, so of course I did and immediately began researching this amazing mineral. I am told this was one of the new stones to find at the Tucson show last year, I don’t know, I have never been there. Scattered throughout the stone are irregular shaped areas of black Pyroxene surrounding gorgeous green centers of Olivine there are flashes of shimmering Muscovite mica throughout the stone. It presents with a lovely pale blue color background with lavender to mauve streaks randomly running through it. It is a densely formed mixture containing black Pyroxene, white Plagioclase Feldspar, Amphibole (in the form of Bluish lavender Gluacophane), Olivine (Surround by Black Orthopyroxene-magnetite) and Muscovite mica with small amounts of iron-titanium oxides. Indigo Gabbro is a plutonic rock that forms deep in the Earth's and Oceanic crusts from high pressure and cooled magma. ![]() Shadow work is a journey I am about to embark on, with the help of my trusted crystals. Shadow work is when you delve into your light and dark sides, allowing you to recognise, understand and balance what makes you, individually you. Meditating with Indigo Gabbro can help you connect deeply with your intuition, developing your abilities with clairaudience (sensing energy by hearing), claircognizance (sensing energy by inner-knowing), clairsentience (sensing energy by feeling) and clairvoyance (sensing energy by seeing).įinally, Indigo Gabbro is said to be an ideal crystal to use with shadow work, which is a hot topic right now. One of the best ways to start working with this crystal is through meditation. Philip Permutt, in his book The Crystal Healer Volume 2, describes Indigo Gabbro as "a real follow-your-heart stone" and that it "Brings up deep-rooted issues that can make you aware of your dark side, encouraging you to let them go and achieve yin/yang balance". Physically, Indigo Gabbro crystals can be used to help the immune system, ease fevers (including hot flushes), menopause, period pains, swelling, bruising and sprains. ![]() Indigo Gabbro crystals can also locate energy blockages in the body and align all the chakras. This crystal has been found to be extremely grounding as well as having the ability to connect you with your higher consciousness. Indigo Gabbro is said to be a great crystal to use for spiritual work and intuition. Meanwhile Merlinite, which is the marketing name for Dendritic Agate, is a white crystal with black patterns that resemble tree branches (and is not a form of Gabbro). When polished, Indigo Gabbro is really nice and shiny.īlizzard Stone, another marketing name, is a form of Gabbro that is black with white specks, however it is still different to Indigo Gabbro and isn't shiny when polished. Indigo Gabbro, a black crystal with grey splotches, has a lavender tinge under the sunlight. For example Indigo Gabbro, aka Mystic Merlinite, is often confused with Merlinite and Blizzard Stone, however they are not the same crystal. Marketing and trademark names cause a lot of confusion in the crystal world. Indigo Gabbro is a fairly new discovery from Madagascar that was submitted to be trademarked as Mystic Merlinite, however Indigo Gabbro is the correct geological name. Indigo Gabbro rates as a 6-6.5 on the Mohs scale of hardness. ![]()
